There are many ways to support Girls on the Run of Dane County. You can be a volunteer, an individual or corporate sponsor, or donate products or services to help us grow. Girls on the Run has 501(c)(3) status.

Girls on the Run has both local and national sponsors. In addition to our national sponsors, every Girls on the Run council needs local support to fulfill its mission to work with community partners and involve the community in the girls' success.

Thank you to our generous 2008 Local Sponsors

New Balance
Kellogg's Frosted Flakes
Horizon Fitness

In 1998 when only a handful of people had even heard of Girls on the Run©, when the "national headquarters" was a back bedroom in Molly Barker's home and reaching a few hundred girls a year seemed like an awesome goal, one company had the vision and the heart to step forward and support the fledgling organization. That company?  New Balance. They offered a whole range of supportive initiatives: expert consulting advice on what format the new organization should take, financial assistance to get the national office off to a good start, and everything from shoes to water bottles for the girls and those who coached them.

New Balance also offered the incalculable value of its fine reputation for quality and commitment to high ideals.  Unlike many athletic companies who pitch their products with billionaire superstars, New Balance  adheres to a unique "Endorsed By No One™"   philosophy. Instead of paying celebrities to tell you how great their products are, they invest in research, design, and domestic manufacturing and let their products speak for themselves.

By adhering to this philosophy, they are able to celebrate the true stars: every day athletes who choose New Balance footwear and apparel because they fit and because they perform. With this sort of corporate philosophy, New Balance is a true GOTR role model.

In 2004 Kellogg's Frosted Flakes launched the Earn Your Stripes initiative.  The initiative is designed to encourage kids to eat right, work hard and always do their best with support from Tony the Tiger.  So, when Kellogg approached Molly Barker about a partnership in 2005, it was obvious to her that they shared common goals.  "We are very excited to be working with Kellogg to provide girls with a common message…to be strong, respect their bodies, and believe in themselves," said Girls on the Run founder Molly Barker.  "Thanks to Kellogg we will be able to provide our program to thousands of girls – girls who will exit our program not only feeling good about their bodies but also able to identify their own unique gifts and talents.  This kind of self-awareness will help them succeed in every part of their lives."

Horizon Fitness is proud to announce its national sponsorship of Girls on the Run® International (GOTRI), an organization dedicated to educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with an organization that shares Horizon Fitness's values and mission to promote a better quality of life," said Bob Whip, president of Horizon Fitness. "2008 marks the first year Horizon has committed to a national sponsorship of any organization. After considering a host of non-profits, Girls on the Run rose to the top of consideration."

Horizon Fitness continues its dedication to helping customers and their families live a better life. It is in this tradition that Horizon is supporting GOTRI.  There is congruency among both organizations' missions, in that they both focus on increasing health and quality of life. While GOTRI specifically serves girls ages 8-13, it has had a tremendous impact on not only the girls themselves, but also their parents and the coaches involved.

Horizon Fitness is a subsidiary of Johnson Health Tech Co., Ltd., the fourth-largest fitness equipment manufacturer in the world. Horizon offers a wide assortment of fitness equipment designed for in-home use, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes and functional strength training equipment. Products are sold through a variety of retail channels including sporting goods retailers and department stores.

Horizon Fitness is a proud national sponsor of Girls on the Run International.  To show support of GOTR and its mission, Horizon Fitness is donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of each piece of high quality fitness equipment through the GOTR website.

The products offered include T81 treadmill, T82 treadmill, EX-56 elliptical and RC-30 recumbent bike. Click to learn more about each product and to make a purchase and help support the Girls on the Run mission!
